Indonesian contemporary artist Arkiv Vilmansa’s cartoon-inspired painting style highlights two-dimensional forms through bold outlining and vivid, vibrant color. With a traditional background in architectural training, Vilmansa’s structured and critical methodology contrast with his raw and unrestrained artistic expression. A self-developed formula controls painting surfaces and paint texture as Vilmansa’s pop cultured-inspired works explore non-figurative art and cartoon character paintings through the use of color, organic shapes and canvas shapes. His choices of colors, shapes and lines reflect influences from creative industry leaders Takashi Murakami and NIGO.
